Job Summary:  The Technical Writer provides technical writing/publication services, to include development and update in support of a Foreign National Weapons Program, Networked Munitions Systems, Remotely Operated Weapon System, and Mortar Fire Control System. Provides technical writing and editing for various MIL-STD-40051 – compliant operator and maintainer Technical Manuals (TM). Responsible for working on existing technical publications or developing new technical publications.

Required Qualifications/Experience:

  • Specific knowledge of US Army Publication Standards and Processes and electronic publishing, for
  • Experience planning/participating in TM validations/verifications.
  • Conducting quality assurance, Technical Manual verification and XML authoring.
  • Provide liaison support with technical subject matter experts to ensure maintenance procedures are clearly and concisely articulated through the manuals in the proper format.
  • Experienced with editing and publishing software that is compatible with the Government's; such as: xMetal, SiberSafe, and other XML editing, text editing, and electronic publishing software to compile and produce (hardcopy and electronic media) drafts and final reproducible copies for review and for use at the LUT, Log Demo, and manual verifications in support of various armament systems.
  • Experienced with a Quality Assurance/Quality Control process.
  • Must be available to start working on-site of B-93 at Picatinny Arsenal, NJ immediately after task award.
    • Technical Manuals (TMs),
    • Technical Bulletins (TBs),
    • Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETMs)
    • Verifiable knowledge of US Army standards and best practices for preparation and distribution of Depot Level Work Requirements (DMWR)
      • MIL-STD-40051
      • MIL-STD-2361
      • MIL-HDBK-1222
    • TMs and TBs shall be generated by the contractor to participate/support a Limited User Test (LUT), Logistics Demonstration (Log Demo), and TM validation and verification.

 Specific Required Skills:

  • xMetal
  • SiberSafe Content Management
  • Other XML editing, text editing and electronic publishing software
  • MS Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Front Page)
  • Knowledge of ARDEC Publications' quality control process.
