Clearance: TS/SCI

Travel: PeriodicCONUS and within the NCR to attend meetings, conferences, and to provide support to Mobile Training Teams (MTT)

Education: A bachelor's degree is required.  An intelligence-related or engineering degree is preferred.  Completion of a military or DoD WTI or EOD course of instruction preferred.

Summary: The NGIC Improvised Explosive Device (IED) Branch mission focuses on global IED threats, emphasizing locations of U.S. Forces currently deployed and are likely to be involved in the next five (5) years and other areas of national interest.  IEDs continue to pose a significant threat to deployed Soldiers worldwide.  Terrorist groups often use Commercial Off the Shelf Technologies (COTS) as an initiator switch for IED threats in both the technological and geographic arenas.  As new technologies are developed, so are new triggering devices and techniques.  Because the level of technology varies in developing countries, the creation of the country studies will include specific threats for each target country. Personnel shall provide Regional Threat Characterization (RTC) Country Study support to the National Ground Intelligence Center IED Branch.  The support required includes research, technical analysis, and finished intelligence production.


  • Minimum of eight years relevant experience as a DoD or military intelligence analyst, with at least five of those years as an IED/RCIED WTI analyst
  • Experience in, or working with, the Special Operations Force (SOF) community is preferred
  • Strong in-depth knowledge, and subject matter expertise in the technical evaluation and assessment in the construction of RCIEDs, technologies, and their associated TTPs
  • Be able to demonstrate the ability to perform detailed, targeted all-source intelligence research and analysis and produce logical and defensible intelligence assessments that conform with applicable Intelligence Community Directives, specifically ICD 203 and 206 Analytic Integrity Standards
  • Be able to demonstrate ability to lead and guide other analysts in the research, analysis and production of all-source intelligence assessments
  • Possesses the subject matter expertise in the technical operation of a variety of CREW systems with direct experience in intelligence support to CREW Load Set Development.
